Signing Books for the Deaf

Signing Books for the Deaf was the name of a EU project, funded under the TAP-DE (4209) programme, which ran from 1-1-98 to 31-12-99. Signing Books are videos (on tape, CD-ROMs or DVD) in sign language, for deaf sign language users. Blind people use 'talking books' whereas deaf people use 'signing books'. W3C/Web Accessibility Initiative

The World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) commitment to lead the Web to its full potential includes promoting a high degree of usability for people with disabilities. The Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), in coordination with organizations around the world, pursues accessibility of the Web through five primary areas of work: technology, guidelines, tools, education and outreach, and research and development.
